As a professional truck wheel manufacturer, accurate rim measurements are essential for safe fitment, performance, and reliability. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you measure five key truck rim parameters, with recommended tools and tips.
1. Center Bore Diameter
Measure the inner diameter of the center hole of the rim. This must match the vehicle hub size to ensure a secure and vibration-free fit.
2. Bolt Pattern (Number of Holes & PCD)
Count the number of bolt holes (e.g., 8-hole, 10-hole).
Measure the distance between the centers of two adjacent holes, then calculate the Pitch Circle Diameter (PCD).
Example: 10×335mm means 10 holes evenly spaced on a 335mm diameter circle.
3. Rim Width
Measure the distance between the bead seats — the flat areas inside the rim where the tire contacts — not the outer edge of the rim.
Common sizes include 8.25" or 9.00".
4. Rim Diameter
Measure from the inner edge of one bead seat to the opposite side. Do not include the rim flange.
This gives the true fitment size for the tire — e.g., 22.5", 24.5".
5. Offset (ET)
Offset is the distance from the mounting surface to the rim centerline.
Positive offset: mounting face is closer to the road side.
Negative offset: mounting face is closer to the vehicle side.
Zero offset: mounting face aligns with rim center.
✅ Recommended Measuring Tools
Digital caliper or vernier caliper
Steel tape measure (1mm accuracy)
PCD bolt-pattern gauge
Offset ruler or straightedge
Quick Measurement Summary
Parameter How to Measure
Center Bore Measure the diameter of the central hub hole
Bolt Pattern / PCD Count holes & measure bolt circle diameter (e.g., 10×335mm)
Rim Width Measure between inner bead seats (not outer flanges)
Rim Diameter Inside bead seat to opposite bead seat
Offset (ET) Distance from mounting face to rim centerline
